Your Medicare options, explained.

Original Medicare (Parts A & B)

Government-administered hospital (Part A) and medical (Part B) coverage. Has deductibles and coinsurance with no out-of-pocket maximum on its own.

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Private plans approved by Medicare that replace Original Medicare. Most include drug coverage (MAPD). May add dental, vision, and hearing benefits. HMO, PPO, and other network types available.

Part D — Prescription Drugs

Standalone drug coverage to pair with Original Medicare, or bundled into a Medicare Advantage plan. Formularies and costs vary significantly by plan.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Supplemental coverage that pays costs Original Medicare leaves behind. Works alongside Original Medicare — not with Advantage plans.
